Longling Mountain International Walking Festival was held at Longling Mountain Ecological Park in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on March 31, drawing more than 5,000 walkers from home and abroad.

The festival, organized by Wuhan Sports Bureau and the government of WHDZ, offered a great opportunity for walkers to explore the beauty of the zone, whilst enjoying a healthy activity.

In total, participants walked for around 12 kilometers during the tour.

During the event, they were able to admire beautiful scenery, especially the cherry blossoms along the route.

“I have been in Wuhan for 11 months. And it’s the first time I have participated in a walking event. I have enjoyed myself today,” said Erika Carlson, president of Wuhan Yangtze International School.

Longling Mountain was an abandoned mine due to overexploitation before 2013. However, with an investment of 100 million yuan ($15.9 million), the mountain has been developed into an ecological park following a year of restoration work.

WHDZ plans to build the ecological park into a tourism brand for the zone and into a national 4A-level scenic spot in the future.
