Robot the highlight of 2018 Badminton Asia Championships

Updated: 2018-04-28

The 2018 Badminton Asia Championships were held at the Wuhan Sports Center in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in central China’s Wuhan, from April 24 to 29. One of the stars of the event was a robot that can play badminton.

Developed by Shanghai Hefu Artificial Intelligence Group, the robot can show a lot of flexibility playing badminton with human opponents.

The robot applies such leading technologies as autonomous positioning, high-speed moving target capture, active obstacle avoidance, and voice recognition, giving it the power to react to the shuttlecock within just one second.

The robot was a part of a carnival during the championships.
