Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei province, started construction work on several projects worth 5.56 billion yuan ($813.3 million) in the zone, on Aug 7.

The projects cover areas such as internet, automobile stamping parts, and automobile molds.

With the investment of 5 billion yuan by Hubei Modern Huazhong Commerce Group, the Tianwaitian smart internet industrial park project will be set up at the Smart Eco-city in the zone, which will introduce industries including robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, unmanned driving, virtual reality technology, intelligent logistics and smart home.

A Taiwan-funded enterprise established in 1996, Hubei Modern Huazhong Commerce Group is a subsidiary company of Hubei Modern Urban Construction Group.

The industrial park under construction is located near a golf event venue, which was also built by the commerce group and is currently under renovation for the 7th World Military Games that will be held in Wuhan in October 2019.

The industrial park construction is expected to take five years, after which a number of innovative and high-tech companies will settle in the park.

Depending on the golf course, tourism and leisure sector will also make development following completion.

Data revealed that from January to July this year, WHDZ started constructing 40 projects with a total investment of 109.42 billion yuan, among which 25 are industrial projects worth 18.02 billion yuan, 14 are projects in the service industry worth 51.4 billion yuan, and one is in the agricultural sector worth 40 billion yuan.

To speed up the construction of industrial projects in the zone, WHDZ has reformed its procedures for approving major projects in the zone, significantly cutting approval times.
