WHDZ lays stress on environmental protection

Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province, held a conference regarding the zone's work on ecological environmental protection, on Oct 16.

Officials including Hu Yabo, secretary of WHDZ's work committee, Peng Hao, director of the WHDZ's administrative committee, and Wang Weiguo, director of the standing committee of the zone's people's congress, attended the meeting.

The meeting conveyed the spirit of the national, provincial and municipal conferences on ecological environmental protection, pointing out the zone's environmental problems.

Various departments of the zone were required to put focus on the protection of air, water, and soil in the zone, and tackle environmental problems referred to before Oct 25.

During the meeting, Hu Yabo said that each department should spare no effort to tackle environmental problems, to offer a good living environment for residents and future generations.

We must further raise awareness of environmental protection, implement related rules timely and strictly, and tackle problems with high standards, added Hu.

Peng Hao stressed that environmental improvement is a long-term cause in the zone, which calls on the participation of all residents.

Representatives from the zone's departments including urban management, construction, finance, and environmental protection also shared their plans on environmental improvement at the meeting.
