WHDZ starts construction on six projects worth $2.6b

Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province, held a commencement ceremony for construction of the city's key projects on Oct 20.

The ceremony was held at Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), which started construction work on six projects worth 18 billion yuan ($2.6 billion), covering areas such as medical care, airplane, and automobile.

In October, a total of 44 projects in the city started construction, with investment totaling 61.5 billion yuan. 

Among the six projects in WHDZ, the headquarters base for green building industry of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, with an investment of 15 billion yuan, plans to build an R & D base for green prefabricated buildings.

Covering an area of 1.6 million square meters, the project is expected to achieve annual revenue of 69 billion yuan following completion.

The Zhengyang central China air medical rescue helicopter assembly, maintenance and modification project, with an investment of 2 billion yuan, will build an assembling, repair and modification workshop, a flight simulator and VR research and development workshop, and a helicopter display center at Hannan General Aviation Airport.

It is estimated that the project will achieve annual revenue of 3.2 billion yuan after going into operation in 2023.

As a national hub for automobile industry, WHDZ is currently transforming and upgrading its industrial model, developing several industries such as general aviation and robots.

Data revealed that from January to September this year, WHDZ started construction work on 53 projects, with a total investment of 151.5 billion yuan.
