Dongfeng Honda agrees import deal at Shanghai expo

Updated: 2018-11-07

Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd, a company based in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Wuhan, central China's Hubei province, signed an agreement to import auto parts and technical service worth 7.6 billion yuan ($1.1 billion) at China International Import Expo in Shanghai, on Nov 6.

The supplier of the imports is Honda Motor Co Ltd in Japan, which will provide auto parts and technical services to Dongfeng Honda Automobile.

Liu Yiping, director of the purchasing department of Dongfeng Honda Automobile, said that 4.8 billion yuan of the imports will be auto parts, mainly for electric vehicles and new energy automobiles.

The move will improve the company's technical strength in the new energy field, and will lower costs, added Liu.

The first China International Import Expo is currently taking place in Shanghai, with many Hubei companies heading to the event to seek cooperation with foreign businesses.

Last year, Dongfeng Honda Automobile became the first company in Wuhan to achieve an annual production value of over 100 billion yuan.

The company is expected to launch pure electric vehicles with the latest new energy technologies next year.
