Hu Yabo, secretary of the work committee of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province, visited two foreign-funded companies in the zone on Nov 13, to learn more about their operations and research and development efforts.
The two companies Hu visited are both located in the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Zone.
Cummins Power Generation (China) Co Ltd is one of Cummins Power’s five largest standardization plants in the world, and it is the only manufacturing plant making generators in China.
The company has an annual production capacity of 7,300 generator sets, achieving an output value of 1.1 billion yuan ($158.53 million) and paying taxes of 49.68 million yuan in 2017.
During the first 10 months of 2018, the company achieved output value of 1.15 billion yuan.
After listening to an introduction on the company's operations and production capacity, Hu asked whether the firm had experienced any difficulties during its development, saying that the zone would provide every possible support for the company.
It is hoped that the company will make full use of its advantages and tailor first-class electrical products to users in China and around the world, while striving to develop itself into a leading national electricity product manufacturing and research base, added Hu.
He also visited Electricfil Engine Components (Wuhan) Co Ltd, a wholly-owned company of France's Electricfil Automotive, which was established in 1936 and is based in Lyon. It plays a leading role in the global auto parts industry.
The firm achieved an output value of 350 million yuan in 2017, and 340 million yuan from January to October this year.
Hu visited the company's R&D laboratory, and learned about its investment in R&D and its efforts to recruit qualified staff.
Companies in the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Zone play a leading role in WHDZ's economic growth, and WHDZ will give full support to companies in the zone, as well as at other industrial parks in WHDZ, through fields such as policies, services, and finance, to promote quality development, Hu said.
