WHDZ chief pushes development of aviation industry

Updated: 2018-11-26

Hu Yabo, secretary of the work committee of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province, presided over a meeting regarding the zone's development of its aviation sector, on Nov 20.

The current state of development at the General Aviation and Satellite Industrial Park was outlined at the meeting.

From January to October this year, the park's industrial added value of enterprises above designated size –– with annual main business income exceeding 20 million yuan ($2.88 million) –– reached 1.48 billion yuan, 9.08 percent more than the annual target.

The park attracted investment of 11.67 billion yuan during the first 10 months of the year, and introduced three companies above designated size.

Listening to the report, Hu pointed out that the aviation industry in the zone has made significant achievements, but not enough progress has been made to turn the area into an industrial hub for central China.

The industry is lacking in four key aspects, namely park planning, attracting investment, project promotion, and operations management of Hannan General Aviation Airport, added Hu.

It is essential that we attract industry experts and professionals, and build an aviation school, he said.

The aviation industry has a promising future in the zone, so all departments should work to accelerate its development and progress, Hu stressed.

In recent years, WHDZ has been accelerating the development of its aviation and satellite industries, setting up the largest general aviation airport in central China and successfully holding the World Fly-in Expo in November 2017 and the RENO International Championship Air Races in November 2018.

With new projects regularly being set up in the zone, the aviation sector in WHDZ appears to have a bright future.
