Updated: 2018-12-11

Officials at Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, held a meeting on Dec 6, to discuss the zone's preparations for a performance to mark the 40th anniversary of the country's reform and opening up.

Hu Yabo, secretary of the zone's work committee, presided over the meeting.

According to plans, the performance will be staged on the evening of Dec 19, and will be broadcast via the city's TV station and other platforms.

The celebration will focus on the zone's achievements since its establishment in 1991, especially its development and efforts to build itself into a world-famous automobile industrial hub.

Hu suggested inviting representatives of residents, companies, retired workers, and entrepreneurs in the zone to the event, to get a full perspective on what the zone has achieved thanks to the reform and opening up policy.

In addition, the event is expected to encourage people in WHDZ to work toward new achievements and promote the high-quality development of its industries, added Hu.
