Freshhema builds supply chain center in WHDZ

Updated: 2018-12-14

Freshhema, a platform for Alibaba Group's new retail strategy, announced plans to build a supply chain network center at Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, on Dec 12.

Freshhema is a new supermarket selling food (mainly fresh products) both online and in physical stores. Thanks to the firm's global procurement system, the platform has opened 100 stores across the country in the past three years, providing services for more than 10 million customers, according to Hou Yi, CEO of Freshhema.

The center will help ease processes ranging from procurement to sales, and improve the availability of different kinds of fresh products in different places to customers all over the country.

Construction of the project has already started in WHDZ, covering an area of around 360 mu (24 hectares).

The center is expected to be the most advanced cold-chain logistics center in Central China following completion, and the platform plans to put large-scale investment in modern agriculture and aquaculture in Wuhan in the future, in order to provide more fresh food to customers.
