Updated: 2019-03-26

Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, has invested 2.3 billion yuan ($342.83 million) in improving its natural environment over the past three years, according to its garden and forestry bureau.

Thanks to the effort, the zone's environmental indicators in areas such as green construction investment, green land rate, and per capita green space are among the highest in the city's zones.

By the end of 2018, the zone's greenery ratio was 38.9 percent, and per capita park green space was 16.37 square meters.

In 2017, the zone added 98.33 hectares of green land, and in 2018, it put 1.13 billion yuan into landscaping and added 256.17 hectares of green land.

For 2019, WHDZ will invest 800 million yuan in building and improving 185 hectares of green land, 20 kilometers of greenways and 10 avenues, as well as planting 2,000 mu (133.3 hectares) of trees.
