A sports meet to mark the 11th National Fitness Day was held in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Aug 9.
Nearly 300 government officials and company employees took part in the event, which included performances, competitions, and other recreational activities.
According to organizers, the meeting was meant to encourage people to live healthier lives and to welcome the 2019 Military World Games, which will be held in Wuhan in October.
National Fitness Day has been celebrated in China on Aug 8 every year since 2009. The WHDZ has made great efforts to develop the sports industry over the years.
The output value of the zone’s “sports + tourism” sector surpassed 10 billion yuan ($1.42 billion) in 2018, and the growth rate has stayed above 10 percent for the past three years.
