A digital one-stop card for staff at the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) was officially launched on Alipay, China's leading third-party online payment platform, on Aug 18.

The WHDZ initiative is China’s first services system aimed at top-flight employees on the platform, which combines publicity of preferential policies, updated information, interactions and services.

There are four categories – a diamond card, platinum, gold and an elite card -- serving a range of people, from cutting-edged talent at leading industries to university graduates who left campus in the last five years.

A total of 16 services are offered on the platform, including a facility to book apartments, free car washes and booking tickets for and discounts on sports games and performances.

More preferential policies are designed for card holders in different categories. Taking the diamond card as an example, card holders can enjoy free physical examinations and transport allowances. If their parents also live within the zone, an allowance worth 20,000 yuan ($2,838) will be offered for elderly care.

As to those with the elite card, they can enjoy a 20-percent discount for renting apartments in the zone and a 30-percent discount for physical training at the local sports center.
