A celebratory event for the 2nd Chinese Doctors' Day was held in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, on Aug 19.

More than 200 local medical workers and government officials took part in the event, and six medical workers were honored for their contribution to the zone’s healthcare sector.

Pu Yong, director of the internal medicine department of the Hannan branch of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, addressed the award ceremony.

He encouraged all medical workers to hold true to their dreams, keep their mission firmly in mind, and devote themselves to promoting the development of the local healthcare industry.

Various performances by local medical workers were also held during the event.

The State Council established Chinese Doctors' Day in 2017. It aims to pay tribute to medical workers across the country.
