A work team from the Taiwan affairs office of the Wuhan government visited the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Aug 21.

The team, headed by Liu Hongming, director of the office, visited two Taiwan-funded companies in the zone to learn about their state of operations and explain preferential policies to them.

The WHDZ is currently home to 19 Taiwan-funded companies and around 120 Taiwan people. The companies are involved in a wide range of industries, including automobile parts, chemicals, textiles, food and beverages, and printing and packaging.

During the visit, Liu expressed his approval of WHDZ’s performance in handling Taiwan affairs. He said that the zone should continue to improve its services and provide full support for the development of Taiwan-funded businesses.

Zhang Dehua, member of the standing committee of the zone’s Party committee, promised that the WHDZ would establish an effective system for handling Taiwan affairs and spare no effort in creating a favorable business and living environment for Taiwan people.

In recent years, the WHDZ has received more than 3 million yuan ($423,300) in allowances from the provincial and municipal governments to promote economic cooperation with Taiwan.
