A hiking event along the Maying River will be held in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province, on Nov 23.

People aged 18 to 65 who are in good health can sign up for the event by following the official WeChat account of the Wuhan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sport Association.

The event is organized by the administrative committee of the WHDZ and the Wuhan sports bureau.

The Maying River is the largest natural river in the zone. It is 25 kilometers long and its watershed encompasses an area of 152.46 square kilometers.

“The riverside scenery is charming, with European-style buildings on one side and lush trees on the other,” said Liu Haifeng, who plans to take part in the event for the second time.

According to organizers, this year’s hike will be 14 km long, 3 km more than last year. The quota will be set at 3,000 people and the entry fee is 25 yuan ($3.48) per person.

Participants are not allowed to take pets with them.
