The main media center serving the just-concluded 7th CISM Military World Games won widespread recognition from domestic and foreign journalists, according to a report on the official WeChat account of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The massive cutting-edge media center or MMC comprised two floors underground and four floors above ground, with a total construction area of 23,000 square meters. The first and second floors above ground were the main press center and the third and fourth floors were the international broadcasting center.

“I have reported on many international events and have been to many media centers,” said Pedro Ramos, a Brazilian journalist.

“Wuhan’s MMC is one of the largest. The facilities are great, the operation is very good, the volunteers are very enthusiastic and we can get help in time,” he added.

During the Military World Games, competition information from more than 30 venues was continuously collected from the center. More than 4,000 Chinese and foreign journalists sent reports from it to their home bases.

The games, which kicked off on Oct 18, concluded on Oct 27, according to the organizers.

Compared with the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, the biggest feature of the media coverage of the 7th CISM Military World Games was the media integration, officials said.

From 5G communications, to 4K TV, to face recognition, big data, cloud computing, the world's most advanced communication technologies were applied at the main press center part of the media complex.

The opening and closing ceremonies and track and field competitions for the games used 4K+5G technology for live broadcasts.

Officials added that the swimming competitions utilized some heavyweight tech kit during their media coverage, while the naval pentathlon used 5G+VR technology to produce ultra-high-definition, 360-degree panoramic images in real time.
