Wuhan students to serve as assistant referees at sports festival

A total of 50 students from the China Racing Academy at Jianghan University will serve as assistant referees at the AEOLUS China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Festival 2019 which is set to open Dec 12 at Wuhan Sports Center, according to local media reports. 

The center is located in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ).

The China Racing Academy, founded in June 2018, is the first racing academy in China and co-established by Jianghan University, WHDZ, Wuhan sports bureau and the China Automobile and Motorcycle Federation.

This year, the academy recruited its first batch of 50 students from Hubei and Guangdong provinces. The students were divided into two majors: racing events and racing engineering.

According to school officials, the students will first undergo pre-race training, and they will not be employed until they have obtained a qualification certificate. They will serve as assistant referees for the track, rescue, timing and maintenance.

The four-day event, the largest and most comprehensive event in the automobile and motorcycle sports industry in China, will have three major sections: automobile and motorcycle events, automobile and motorcycle performances and cultural activities.
