Nine intelligent driving projects to settle in WHDZ

A total of nine intelligent driving projects worth some 40 million yuan ($5.69 million) are to be introduced to the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, in the wake of a signing ceremony held on Nov 26, according to the official WHDZ WeChat account.

The signing ceremony was part of promotion activities launched by Wuhan Research Institute of New-energy Automotive Technologies in the zone.

The institute, located in Smart Eco City in the WHDZ, covers an area of some 6.67 hectares.

Officials said it is where the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone – the first intelligent network-connected vehicle demonstration area in China – is located.

Since its establishment, the Wuhan Research Institute of New-energy Automotive Technologies has been committed to the research and development, incubation and industrialization of key technologies for next-generation vehicles of new energy and intelligent connected cars.

Officials said it is also committed to the transformation and upgrade of the automotive industry in Wuhan city.

So far it has been engaged in the design and development of new energy and intelligent networked connected vehicles, next-generation high-performance power battery technology and motor and power systems control technology.

Other areas of activity include lightweight key materials and manufacturing technology -- and it has scored a number of major original scientific and technological achievements and successfully registered patented technologies.
