Seven key projects are to settle in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (also known as WHDZ) following a signing ceremony which was held on Dec 14, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

The seven projects are in five major industries -- automotive sports, car networking, intelligent logistics, automotive parts and the auto aftermarket sector -- and they are expected to draw investments of 1.4 billion yuan ($200 million).

Already host to the Dongfeng Motors headquarters, the WHDZ has a strong automobile industry foundation and R&D strength. Officials said that after 28 years of development, it has formed a complete automobile industry chain -- from R&D to production and sales -- with an annual output of more than 1 million vehicles.

Officials said that in order to realize its transformation from the traditional automobile industry to the next-generation automobile industry, the zone is advancing the construction of the National Intelligent Networked Automobile (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone and is committed to creating a world-class automobile city.

The zone successfully hosted the AEOLUS China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Festival 2019, which ran from Dec 12 to 15, attracting the participation of more than 230 racing drivers from over 30 countries and regions including the US, the UK, France and Japan.
