WHDZ records industrial added value growth

The added value of industries above a designated scale in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (also known as WHDZ) reported a year-on-year increase of 0.2 percent in the first 11 months of 2019, according to the official website of the WHDZ.

The WHDZ is an important sector in the city's industrial economy and its industrial output value accounts for about a quarter of the city' total.

The automobile industry is one of the leading industries of the WHDZ, accounting for over 70 percent of the zone’s total annual industrial output. Last year, the zone produced more than one million vehicles, accounting for about three-quarters of the city's total.

According to WHDZ officials, auto companies based in the zone, including Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co, have made contributions to the its industrial output growth.

As of November 26 this year, Dongfeng Honda had sold 718,000 units, exceeding the total volume of last year. Its annual production for this year is expected to reach 800,000 vehicles, an increase of 8.1 percent year-on-year.

WHDZ-based Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Co is expected to experience growth in its production this year, with annual output topping 77,000 vehicles.

Home appliances is yet another pillar industry in the zone. This year, the output of Midea's Wuhan plant will exceed 7.8 million units, an increase of 34 percent year-on-year. Dec 9 marked the 15th anniversary of the company’s settling in the WHDZ.
