Wuhan rolls out tough anti-smoking regulations

Smoking is now being strictly prohibited in all hospitals in Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, in the wake of the new Wuhan Smoking Control Regulations which came into force on Jan 1.

According to the regulations, smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is not allowed in indoor working areas and public areas of medical institutions. In addition, it is prohibited both indoors and outdoors in medical facilities where minors or pregnant women are the main clients.

Smoking areas will not be set up in hospitals.

Violators face a fine of up to 500 yuan ($71.79).
