Some 97.61 million vehicles are projected to pass through the expressways in Hubei province during the Spring Festival this year, with an average of about 2.44 million vehicles per day, according to the Hubei Expressway Travel Guide for Spring Festival 2020, released on Jan 7.

This year’s Spring Festival travel rush starts on Jan 10 and will last for roughly 40 days, coming to an end on Feb 18.

From 00:00 hrs on Jan 24 to 24:00 hrs on Jan 30, minicars can pass free of charge on expressways. It is estimated that the total number of vehicles passing through the expressways in the province will reach 20.33 million.

Electronic toll collection, or ETC, fast-pass systems have been launched on expressways. Officials said a number of expressways in the province will have only one passage for mixed toll systems and it is recommended that drivers get ETC devices installed to avoid long queues.

According to China Railway Wuhan Group Co, during the Spring Festival travel rush period the number of railway passengers will reach 24.39 million, year-on-year growth of three percent, with the maximum daily volume being 920,000.

A total of 164.5 pairs of trains will be added during the period.
