A new 28-kilometer test road for intelligent road network vehicle demonstrations and applications -- based on full coverage by the 5G communications technology -- is to be added in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), according to WHDZ officials.

The test road in the WHDZ in Wuhan city in central Hubei province, will be built in its National Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test and Demonstration Zone -- the only demonstration zone for multi-scenario smart car applications in China.

Developed in 2016, it is also the first intelligent network-connected vehicle demonstration area in China, based on full coverage by the 5G V2X vehicle road coordination system.

Officials said a 28-kilometer test road for intelligent road network vehicle demonstrations and applications has been completed in the test and demonstration zone.

Various auto-driving configurations for testing different types of vehicles -- such as buses, sanitation vehicles, taxis and logistics vehicles -- have been added.
