A total of 123 technological transformation projects were confirmed in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in 2019, marking still more progress in the zone’s intelligent upgrading, according to a report in the Changjiang Daily.

Officials said Wuhan Sinotec Power Technology Co, a company based in the WHDZ, has seen increasing demand for its products.

The key components of the turbocharger produced by the company are the core components of automobile engines. At present, the small parts for exhaust valves produced by the factory have taken about 25 percent of the global market share.

Last year marked the first year of production for the company. A spokesman said the output value in 2020 is expected to reach 300 million yuan ($43.59 million).

In November, 2019, the company signed a supply contract with Getech. Some 250 million yuan was invested in developing an intelligent factory.

The spokesman said it was expected that through technological transformation and intelligent upgrading, the effects of speeding up production, increasing efficiency and reducing costs would be achieved and the core competitiveness of the company enhanced.

The company’s move is just one of the cases of technological transformation and upgrading in the WHDZ.

In July, 2019, the zone issued incentive policies for companies’ technological transformation, with maximum funding of 12 million yuan.

Five WHDZ-based companies undertook Wuhan’s intelligent transformation demonstration tasks in 2019, securing funding of 120 million yuan for 67 district-level projects. The 123 technological transformation projects are underway.

WHDZ officials said Gree Electric Appliances Wuhan Plant has invested in the construction of a controller intelligent workshop and the construction of an unmanned production line, which can realize automatic production of air conditioner remote controls.

Chassis Brakes International (Wuhan) transformed its existing process and improved the information system. After the transformation, its annual production capacity increased by three million sets.

More than 2 billion yuan has been spent in technological transformation and upgrading since the establishment of Media’s production plant in the WHDZ in 2015.

After 15 years’ development, it has become a digital intelligent benchmarking factory, with one of the world’s most advanced intelligent air-conditioning external machine assembly lines.
