WHDZ companies make donations toward coronavirus control

Updated: 2020-01-30

Geely Holding Group and Freshhema -- two companies with branches in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- have been do their bit in helping control the coronavirus through donations and providing lunch supplies for medical staff members, WHDZ officials said.

Geely Holding Group set up a 200 million yuan ($28,83 million) special fund on Jan 28 for coronavirus prevention and control in epidemic-stricken areas including Hubei, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Henan provinces.

Meanwhile, officials said Geely Holding Group will further expand the scale of the special fund in accordance with the needs of the epidemic's prevention and control.

In addition, it is actively cooperating with its overseas subsidiaries to raise funds for the purchase of medical supplies for control and preventing the spread of the condition. The first batch of 250,000 medical face masks were delivered from Sweden to Wuhan in China.

Starting on Jan 26, Freshhema, an e-commerce offline service provider, set up special teams to provide meals for medical staff members in Wuhan, including breakfast, lunch, dinner -- as well as providing drinking water, instant noodles and self-heating foods.

On Jan 28, Freshhema organized a special team to visit frontline medial workers in the WHDZ and delivered 630 cartons of Chilean cherries weighing 3.15 tons to 15 hospitals in the zone.
