WHDZ firm steps up output of face masks, medical supplies

Updated: 2020-01-30

Wuhan Huashida Protective Products Co, a company based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- maker of surgical and face masks and other lines -- started production of medical protective products on Jan 24, Chinese New Year's Eve, according to WHDZ officials.

The company, which specializes in exporting the protection products, has not yet obtained a medical device production license in China.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus WHDZ government bodies -- including the economic and information bureau and the market supervision bureau -- have opened up green channels for qualified medical device companies in the zone and striven to meet the growing demand for medical protective products.

Under the coordination of the relevant departments in the area, the Hubei Market Supervision Bureau issued a second-class medical device production license to Wuhan Huashida Protective Products Co, allowing the company to produce medical protective products in China.

At present, the company can produce 600,000 ordinary medical masks, 5000-10,000 heavy duty N95 respirator mask and 2000-3000 sets of high-grade protective clothing every day.

In view of the urgent need for medical protection products in Wuhan, all of the company employees agreed to delay vacations and apply full power to production until the epidemic eased.
