Hannan Hospital retired medical staff joins fight against virus

In the aftermath of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, medical staff members of Hannan Hospital of Renmin Hospital at Wuhan University joined the ranks to work hard to fight against the virus – even while they are nearing retirement.

On Dec 30, it officially became a designated hospital for fever patients and the number of people visiting the clinic increased rapidly.

Liu Xiulian, who should have retired on Feb 1, is a medical staff member at the hospital pre-check reception.

She is now actively guiding every patient and accompanying people to conduct temperature measurements, registration and guides patients with fever to clinics.

As soon as she receives a call from the infection ward, she dons on isolation gown and sends a specimen from the fever patient to the lab through a transfer box.

Liu Yanmei, who will retire on Feb 10, is currently working at the health care department.

She has undertaken the initiative to perform logistics work and distributes daily supplies of milk and cakes to front-line medical workers and patients, so they are in better shape to meet the challenges of the virus.
