A total of 20 patients with the novel coronavirus were pronounced cured and then released from the two cabin hospitals in Wuhan Sports Center in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on March 4, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

Currently, there are 76 patients are under treatment at the hospitals -- which were converted from the sports center's main gymnasium and badminton training hall to treat infected patients suffering from mild symptoms of the virus.

Under the current arrangements, if a patient's condition worsens, he or she is then transferred to the Wuhan Union Hospital (West Campus).

The pop-up hospitals have 1,100 beds, with 600 beds placed in the main gymnasium and 500 in the badminton training hall.

The emergency hospitals received their first patients on Feb 12. Some 700 medical workers from hospitals in the WHDZ -- and from Anhui, Guizhou and Jiangsu provinces -- are providing diagnosis and treatment for the patients there, strictly following the diagnosis and treatment plan for the coronavirus.

WHDZ officials said that with the number of discharged patients rising, over 80 percent of the beds in the cabin hospitals have now been vacated.
