A total of 38 companies attended a special recruitment event targeting poverty-stricken households held on May 26 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) – located in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province – according to WHDZ officials.

They said the successful event provided 914 job opportunities.

In order to avoid people gathering and to strengthen novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control measures, the human resources bureau of the WHDZ arranged body temperature measurements for job applicants at the entrance of the venue.

Officials said they entered the site in an orderly manner after scanning a QR code posted at the entrance.

The companies covered such areas as electronics, machinery, automobiles, textiles, logistics, food, and clothing.

They released information such as the business’ work location, working hours, recruitment positions, salary and treatment by issuing promotional materials and hanging posters in the venue.

Officials said that since it was a special recruitment event aimed at poverty alleviation, some companies relaxed their normal recruitment requirements to provide more jobs for people in need.

On the day of the event, a total of 287 job seekers received expressions of interest from employers, including two targeted poverty alleviation residents.

Moving forwards, the WHDZ human resources bureau plans to host several more special recruitment events. Information on them will be posted on the official WeChat account of the human resources bureau of the zone.
