Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- in Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei province -- has been improving its business environment, with efforts made in streamlining procedures and enhancing efficiency, WHDZ officials said.

According to Huang Sisi, a project leader of the WHDZ housing estate project, previously it was necessary to complete all the paper work for drawings and filing before applying for a project construction permit -- requiring at least 15 working days.

But the WHDZ bureau of administrative examination and approval has narrowed the scope of reviews.

Officials said it has optimized and simplified the approval process to support construction companies to overcome the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic and accelerate the pace of construction.

As a result, nowadays the construction permit can be obtained on the same day of application.

With the improvement in its business environment, the work and production resumption of WHDZ-based enterprises has been advanced, officials said.

So far, 1,136 manufacturers above a designated scale – with annual revenue of 20 million ($2.8 million) or more -- real estate development firms have all resumed work and production.

A total of 105 major projects worth more than 100 million yuan each have resumed construction, with a total investment of 207.4 billion yuan.

There are seven new major projects currently underway, worth more than 100 million yuan each and 11 new projects with a total investment of 37 billion yuan have resumed construction, officials added.

So far, the key projects have completed total investment of 11.26 billion yuan.
