The head of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) – a major commercial driver of Wuhan city, capital of Central China’s Hubei province – received positive news when he went on a recent visit to an important part of the zone, according to WHDZ officials.
Officials said Peng Hao went to the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Zone, where its representative Xiao Xiaopeng, gave him a report on its economic performance in the first half of 2020.
According to Xiao, the advanced industrial zone’s total industrial output in H1 was worth 88.97 billion yuan ($12.79 billion) – and it achieved positive growth for the last three consecutive months.
Total fixed asset investment in the six months came in at 3.81 billion yuan and the total value of investment contracts in the period was 11.2 billion yuan.
Officials said Peng commended the development of the industrial zone in the first half of the year.
He said that since its return to work as the novel coronavirus outbreak situation improved, the industrial zone had successfully coordinated epidemic prevention and control measures with its economic and social development.
This had, he added, effectively promoted the restoration of production in the park’s pillar industries and stabilized the economic fundamentals.
Peng also called for more efforts to be put into boosting economic growth, strengthening reforms in the park and into further improving its management system and procedures.
