A total of 30 new materials and smart manufacturing projects, jointly developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Wuhan enterprises and worth 700 million yuan ($105.28 million), were agreed during an investment promotion event held on Oct 19 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), according to local media reports.
According to WHDZ officials, WHDZ attaches great importance to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, as well as to scientific and technological innovation.
It has successively introduced innovation platforms such as the Wuhan Institutes of Advanced Technology CAS and the NVIDIA Incubation Center to accelerate the transformation of scientific research institutes and achievements.
The Wuhan Institutes of Advanced Technology CAS is an important scientific and technological innovation enterprise introduced by WHDZ.
Within just one year of its establishment in WHDZ, it has achieved breakthroughs in new materials and technologies such as basalt fiber, black phosphorus and other two-dimensional materials, and smart microcapsules.
The company has also introduced high-end talents and applied for 22 invention patents. In the future, it will form a four-in-one micro-innovation 'technology + industry + finance + service' system, and contribute to regional economic transformation and development.
