Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, plans to invest 110 million yuan ($16.43 million) in developing a comprehensive public health service center, the WHDZ health bureau announced on Nov 2.

The project will cover an area of 10,338 square meters, with a construction area of 15,500 square meters.

It will include a main building, a laboratory building, and a health management center.

After its completion in 2023, it will integrate the public health functions of the entire zone, save public resources, and fully meet the country's latest functional design requirements for its public health service systems and disease control biosafety laboratories.

Currently, the project is undergoing preliminary procedures. It is expected to start construction in December this year.

The development zone will also launch a batch of key medical and health projects by the end of the year, such as a health emergency command center, 120 emergency centers, a mental health center, a traditional Chinese medicine hospital, and Dajunshan hospital projects, to create a 15-minute urban and rural health service circle.
