The new Wuhan Intellectual Property Protection Workstation was established on Nov 4 at the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) Innovation and Service Center -- located in WHDZ, Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province.

It marked the first municipal-level IP rights protection workstation in the development zone.

The new facility will provide businesses with a full range of intellectual property services, further help grow the innovative capabilities of tech-based enterprises, guide the development of high-quality patents and boost the potential for regional development, officials added.

The workstation will provide enterprises with a four-in-one services approach -- covering IP declarations, IP rights protection, training and project declaration -- so that companies can access the entire gamut of IP services without leaving the development zone.

In recent years, the zone has actively expanded and broadened its IP service industry.

It has promoted its IP protection system and carried out related work such as IP promotion operations, IP dispute infringement determinations and rights protection services.

According to the Wuhan market supervision bureau, in the year to Sept 30, the WHDZ had completed 2,085 invention patent applications, an increase of 69.93 percent on the previous corresponding period.

Of these, the number of enterprise invention patent applications was 1,933, a year-on-year increase of 84.45 percent, ranking the zone the leader in generating enterprise invention patent applications in Wuhan.

During the same period, the year-on-year growth of invention patent authorizations was 28.05 percent, while there was a 29.09 percent rise in enterprise invention patent authorizations.
