The fifth session of the ninth Hannan People's Congress opened in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ or Hannan) on Dec 24, plotting a path for the zone's future development, according to local media reports.

Liu Shibao, deputy secretary of Hannan, delivered a government work report at the congress.

The report was divided into three parts: the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) work review, the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) goals and tasks, and main tasks in 2021.

The government work report comprehensively summarized the main achievements of Hannan's economic and social development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period from seven aspects, including transformation and upgrading, agglomeration innovation, reform and opening-up, urban construction and people's livelihoods.

According to the data, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Hannan's regional GDP is expected to increase from 112.3 billion yuan ($17.2 billion) at the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) to 170 billion yuan in 2020, an average annual growth of 6.2 percent.

The total output value of industries above a designated scale exceeded 300 billion yuan and the average annual growth of fixed asset investment was 6.16 percent. The added value of the tertiary sector grew at an average yearly rate of 9.2 percent.

The total general public budget revenue was 25.7 billion yuan, and the local general public budget revenue was 12.3 billion yuan.

The per capita disposable income of residents has achieved simultaneous growth with economic development.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Hannan is to comprehensively promote high-quality development and develop itself into "China's Auto Valley."

The regional GDP is expected to see an average annual increase of 7.5 percent. And the per capita disposable income of residents will continue to grow.

Also, Hannan will continue to be a front runner among national economic development zones and maintain first place among the economic development zones of West and Central China.
