The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province -- is expected to further boost the development of its service sector during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), according to WHDZ officials.

While pillar industries such as automobiles and home appliances will continue to grow, the proportion of the service industry has also increased significantly in the WHDZ.

The number of service companies above a designated size in the WHDZ -- those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.06 million) or more -- currently number 224 and the added value of the service industry accounted for 30.4 percent of regional GDP currently.

A number of leading services industry ventures -- including the Hema Fresh Central China Operations Center, Orsun Ice and Snow Town and Sunac Cultural Tourism City -- have located operations in the development zone.
