An international medical rehabilitation center is scheduled to be developed in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, following a cooperation agreement signed by WHDZ and Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology on May 14.
The medical rehabilitation center, covering an area of 90,000 square meters, will have 800 to 1,000 beds and is set to cost 2 billion yuan ($311 million).
Construction work on the project began in mid-April in WHDZ's Smart Eco-city.
The new facility will include the International Rehabilitation Medical Center, Rehabilitation Training Center, Rehabilitation Equipment Research Center and Rehabilitation Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park.
Integrating the most advanced research results into clinical treatment reportedly provides more effective help for patients throughout the course of their condition.
At the same time, the integrated transformation of production, education and research is expected to help drive the development of the rehabilitation equipment manufacturing industry.
