Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, reported seven COVID-19 cases on Aug 2, according to WHDZ's COVID-19 Prevention and Control Headquarters.
On the evening of Aug 1, during the investigation of key personnel, it was discovered that Tang, a migrant worker at a construction site on Zhuankou Street, encountered a tourist group from Huaian, East China's Jiangsu province, while waiting at the Jingzhou High-speed Railway Station on July 27.
On the morning of Aug 2, Tang and his six close contacts tested positive for COVID-19 on nucleic acid tests.
At present, the WHDZ has sent the seven people to designated hospitals for further diagnosis and treatment.
The development zone strictly follows the relevant COVID-19 prevention and control measures, quarantines communities and personnel, and disinfects and sterilizes contaminated areas.
The development zone is currently conducting epidemiological investigations and nucleic acid tests.
The general public is requested to further enhance the awareness of personal protection, wear masks properly, wash hands frequently, ventilate enclosed areas often, maintain a safe social distance of at least one meter when outside of home, and avoid gatherings.
