To celebrate the 2021 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, the city of Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province established a branch venue on Xiangkou Street in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone on Sept 23.

Nearby urban and rural residents enjoyed various activities and programs staged at the venue, including a pesticide spray drone show, a square dance exchange party, and a rural sports meet in the field.

Spraying pesticide used to be a major headache for farmers, as it was costly, inefficient, and sometimes dangerous and farmers were likely to be poisoned from close contact with the pesticide.

Pesticide spray drones are far more efficient. From January to August this year, a total of 44,000 hectares of land was serviced by drones – more than ever before.

At a Hannan district agricultural product e-shop on JD.com, promotions for special agricultural products were livestreamed. In less than two hours, the livestream had attracted more than 54,200 viewers. Orders placed during the livestream were worth 540,000 yuan ($81,000). Crabs from Xique Lake and local sweet corn were the most popular among agricultural products.

An official from the Hannan district bureau of agriculture and rural affairs said that the district registered 2.67 billion yuan in agricultural output, while the per capita disposable income of rural residents reached 23,000 yuan last year.
