The unveiling ceremony of the State Key Lab for Precision Blasting [Photo provided to en.whkfq.gov.cn]
The State Key Lab for Precision Blasting was officially launched by Jianghan University on Oct 17. Liu Ziqing, secretary of the working committee of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), attended the unveiling ceremony of the lab, along with other high-ranking leaders of provincial and municipal governments.
The zone distributed a 100-million-yuan ($15 million) grant to the lab.
The Ministry of Science and Technology allowed the university to establish such a key lab in September this year. It is the first lab to be built by a municipal university.
The lab is reportedly being led by Xie Xianqi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and will focus on China's major need in blasting, and the frontier area of the discipline.
