Among the nine metro line projects currently ongoing in Wuhan, three are scheduled to open to the public by the end of this year – Metro Line 5, the second phase of Metro Line 6, and Metro Line 16 (Hannan) – boasting a total length of 75 kilometers.

The three projects have all entered the trial operation stage, and final construction work is underway, including road restoration and construction evaluation.

Starting from the South Third Ring Road and ending at Wuhan Railway Station, Line 5 is 35.1 km long and has 25 stations. It is also Wuhan's first fully automated metro line applying GoA4 technology. The newly launched subway is able to leave the station, open and close the door and clean the carriage without human intervention.

Line 16 (Hannan) has 12 stations, five of which are being elevated above the ground. The highest station of the line is the height of a 10-floor building, offering passengers a nice view.
