The eighth National Public Snow and Ice Season is scheduled to kick off in Wuhan city, Enshi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture and the Shennongjia region in Central China's Hubei province on Dec 19.
The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone – based in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province – will serve as the main venue, according to a provincial news conference held on Dec 14.
In addition to a variety of ice and snow sports events, the three venues will also hold ice and snow sports achievement exhibitions and themed carnivals, to showcase Hubei's unique ice and snow resources.
As a State-level demonstration activity for winter sports events, the season will run through the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games – which has only 50 days to go from now.
The season has been successfully held seven times since 2014.
