The 9th Xuanyuan Award was held in WHDZ, Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Dec 18. It was the second annual automotive event held in the zone this year after the China Automobile Supply Chain Summit (CASCS). The award event has been held eight times in Beijing.

Both the CASCS and Xuanyuan Award are organized every year by Auto Business Review, an authoritative automobile media outlet in China. The Xuanyuan Award is unique in that it has collected auto research specialists from China, Germany, the United States, Austria and Norway. Candidates for the award are evaluated in terms of innovation, performance, and the influence on China's auto industry.

"We don't simply focus on whether the product is good or not. Instead, we give more weight to the innovative technology the product has adopted, and the positive effect it has on the entire industry. We hope that during the assessment process, problems facing automobile research can be discovered, and some successful experiences can be widely spread as well," said Jia Ke, editor in chief of Auto Business Review.

The Voyah Free and Dongfeng Citroen C5 X developed in WHDZ were selected among the 10 best cars during the award ceremony.
