A team led by Li Shengquan, president of the State Grid Hubei Electric Power Co in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, visited the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on Feb 24.

A session was held by Liu Ziqing and Tang Chao, secretary and deputy secretary of the zone's working committee, to welcome the visit that day.

According to Tang, the zone has so far established 22 public substations. Due to spikes in demand for electricity from enterprises, the zone plans to set up and expand 39 substations.

Based on the strategic cooperation contract for the 14th five-year plan period (2021-25) signed by the zone and the firm last November, a new government-enterprise collaboration model will be adopted to build a power grid that is safe, advanced, eco-friendly and intelligent.

Li Shengquan spotlighted the long-term progress made with the zone, and gave weight to the zone's thriving economy and prosperous development as one of Wuhan's sub-centers. He pledged to go all out to guarantee the power demand from the zone, and explore new areas for collaborations.

In addition, the firm will also respond to the nation's dual-carbon goals and build a new-generation power system for the zone.
