A symposium for officials on the working committee of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) was held on March 15 and presided over by Tang Chao, president of the zone.

Members of the committee were directed to push forward with a series of demonstration reform projects and make the modern financial system more flexible, competent and inclusive.

They were also told to make efforts to foster talent devoted to basic research to enhance the nation's innovative capabilities. The need to integrate industrial chains with innovation chains was also emphasized at the meeting.

The goal of building a world-class urban electric power network, wherein officials are encouraged to create new government-enterprise cooperation models and combine electricity network construction with the city's future development, new-type infrastructure, and key industrial cluster layouts, was put forward as well. Power demands from traditional and emerging industrial sectors such as automobiles, new energy, new materials, 5G networks, big data, and industrial internet will be met.

The zone also plans to aggregate more high-quality educational resources and ensure that five newly established kindergartens and seven schools open to the public in a timely manner.
