Industrial park gets new name

The 2022 China Auto Supply Chain Conference and the first China New Energy Vehicle (NEV) and Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) Ecosystem Meeting kicked off on June 27 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

The Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, which was previously known as the Automobile and Auto Parts Industrial Park, was unveiled at the conference on June 28.

The industrial park, founded in 2015, covers a total area of 57.29 square kilometers, and its industrial output ranks second in WEDZ. It currently is home to 770 enterprises, including 169 companies above a designated size, 21 foreign-funded firms, 77 high-tech corporations, and one listed enterprises. In 2021, the industrial park reaped total revenue of 36 billion yuan ($5.37 billion).

As a major industrial hub in Shamao area, the park will promote the industrial transformation and upgrading of automobiles and relevant components, and further extend the value chain of the auto business.

In the next two or three years, the industrial park is expected to churn out 500,000 NEVs annually.
