He Xiaopeng, CEO of Xiaopeng Motor Co, addressed the China Automotive Bluebook Forum (CABF) 2022 – a top domestic forum in the automotive field unveiled in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on July 7.

In his speech titled “Xpeng’s updates and choice”, he said he was very glad he returned to his hometown of Hubei province and invested in WEDZ two years ago.

Xpeng sold nearly 70,000 cars from January to June this year, a year-on-year increase of 124 percent, making it the best seller in the auto-making new power ranking. It has maintained 150-percent revenue growth for the past seven quarters. It was continuous improvements that allowed for this tremendous success, according to He.

Xpeng will soon launch production models with the City Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) system, which will make it the first carmaker in China to apply the system on a large scale.

He explained the system using speed bumps as an example. When driving by themselves, people will lower their speed when approaching these bumps. Under the same circumstances, autonomous driving will make the trip less comfortable unless it can coordinate perfectly with the car’s positioning abilities, suspension system, and air springs.
