The 8th International Symposium on Technologies & Standards and Regulations for Intelligent and Connected Vehicles was held in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on July 13.

Foreign and domestic intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) experts and scholars were invited to the meeting to discuss the existing policies, regulations and standards in the field, key ICV technologies, and other issues on information security and data legality.

Lu Mei, general manager of the China Automobile Technology and Research Center Co, Chen Hao, vice manager of Dongfeng Motor Co, and Tang Chao, director of the zone's administrative committee, attended the symposium.

The symposium was guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration of Market Regulation and organized by the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization. This is the eighth time it has been held, attracting the participation of talent and leaders from governments, the auto industry, universities and research institutes.

WEDZ has reportedly formed six national, industrial and regional standards involving high-definition maps, high-precision positioning, and road intelligentization. In addition, it has undertaken three ICV-related projects of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

It has also constructed 106 kilometers of open autonomous driving testing roads, and 321 kilometers of 5G commercial open testing roads. Construction on its 86.67-hectare closed-loop ICV testing field will soon be concluded.

As an automobile giant based in Hubei province and owned by the central government, Dongfeng has been consistently supporting rule standardization work and has presided over national standard formulation in the intelligent speed limit system and driver monitoring system. It is currently leading research on the intelligent cockpit standard system.
