The Hubei Intellectual Property Bureau recently issued a list of the 2022 provincial intellectual property right innovation and entrepreneurship service bases. Six institutions made the list, including two from the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

Statistics show that over the first half of this year, WEDZ saw 1,212 authorized invention patents, a year-on-year increase of 123.2 percent. This growth rate is three times faster than the municipal average. Among them, corporate invention patents stood at 1,164, a surge of 136.59 percent.

The Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs took effect in China on May 5. Three enterprises based in WEDZ submitted international industrial design patent applications on the same day.

The First-Aid Center for Intellectual Property on Automobiles and Parts in Wuhan, China also signed a cooperation memorandum with the zone to establish the professional IPR protection institution and mediation work model to address IPR-related disputes more effectively.

The zone has also issued the "33 Measures to Promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship" and the "eight measures to bolster IPR protection" and has allocated a special fund of at least 800 million yuan ($118 million) to encourage innovative activities among local firms.
